Bravery in Mismatched Socks

Travel is a deeply personal illustration inspired by a childhood memory. After being scolded by my mother, I packed a few clothes, grabbed my shoes, and quietly climbed out the back window, determined to leave for my uncle’s house. My brothers found me later that day, but the emotion of that moment — fear mixed with stubborn courage — stayed with me.

I reimagined the scene through a cinematic night setting, using cool tones to heighten the sense of isolation. Small details carry the narrative: one shoe left on the ground, mismatched socks, belongings clutched tightly. A watchful owl adds a layer of mystery and quiet judgment. The piece was created traditionally in pencil and watercolor, allowing texture and softness to deepen the emotional atmosphere.
